Home2 Suites by Hilton Gainesville Medical Center

Bed is extremely uncomfortable and we only had 3 pillows. I ended up getting a stiff neck and had to take Advil. There is a very weird smell in the hotel as of something is burning and when we asked the front desk lady she said she told the manager and had told her to monitor it. Really???? The shower drips on and on and is extremely annoying and the couch is dirty and gross. Furthermore, toilet doesn't flush well. The desk chair is broken. I asked for extra towels and a pillow from house keeping and did not get it. We can hear the elevator noises from our room. I am a diamond member and to me this can is unacceptable. I will not be staying here again.

Room was dirty and so nasty. See photos attached. Room size was nice but carpet was gross we had to wear shoes. We don’t check in until 11:30 and just slept and left first thing in the morning. Shower was so nasty my daughter slipped and fell. It tore off the shampoo and conditioner bottles off the wall. We couldn’t even sit on the couch it was so gross. Hallways were even dirty.

Our family just finished a four week trip covering Kentucky, the Carolinas, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. We stayed in a number of Home2Suites and were completely satisfied with every one except this. We phoned several times to ensure the room would be feather free (allergies). We checked in after 5pm, so there was no excuse for the room not having been fully attended. Of course, there was a feather pillow, but that only showed a lack of diligence. What was worse was the complete inattention to normal Home2Suites services. We looked for dishes; nothing, until we called the desk and were told to check the dishwasher. There were a couple of plates and bowls, and two glasses - all wet. No way of knowing if they'd been rinsed and left in the dishwasher for later washing (the appliance wasn't warm though, so we assume it hadn't been used). No utensils. None. Not a single one. Went down to the desk and was told all they had were some plastic forks because the manager had ordered more silverware but it hadn't arrived yet. There were no knives. There were no spoons. The attitude of the front desk staff when we checked in, with the exception of one younger woman, was dismissive and condescending. A poor couple checking in ahead of us had called twice to specify one room, two beds. The system had it down as two rooms, and no one at the hotel had looked at the reservation when taking their call. Yes, you guessed it - the hotel insisted on charging them for two rooms. The next morning staff were even worse, again with the exception of one young man. The new manager was again dismissive and condescending. No point in asking why breakfast had been cleared early, or if we could grab something to take in the car (it closed at nine, we were there about 8 minutes before). What we could see of the breakfast being cleared was a pretty sad affair anyway; we got something on the road. The hotel is older, which would be fine if it didn't also feel slightly filthy around the edges. The outside isn't kept up, and most of the furniture looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years. The bathroom smelled awful. The elevators should be ADA-compliant, with a ring or buzzer each time a new floor is reached. In one elevator, the buzzer wasn't working at all. In the other, the tone was so loud and breaking up so badly that we thought it was the alarm going off at first. If this had been our first Home2Suites, we'd never stay in another. This hotel shouldn't be part of the Hilton chain. It's a disgrace.

This hotel is atrocious. Completely mismanaged. They did not service my room one time without me asking specifically for it. Even when I did, I requested cleaning every day. They only cleaned my room twice The dishwasher was broken also. Forget about a late check out. Even though I am a diamond member, I was told there was no way. They said I would be charged another night if I stayed a minute past noon time. That is a fact, I saw the front desk worker checking all the doors and rooms to make sure they were empty so if they found you still there, they would happily charge you for another night. This location is terrible. Lots of homelessness and a six day window. The hot breakfast was a joke. No items available. Coffee is stone cold. Lots of people complaining. Homeless people knocking on the fitness center door to get fresh water. Washer and dryer broken. Treadmill broken. soap and shampoo bottles in the shower, completely empty and would not be refilled. Even when I requested them to be two. Hot plate and pans were not provided as stated in the reservation.

This hotel was horrible. I had booked a mini suite and had no utensils, dishes, or cups. The toaster was dirty. The soap dispensers in bathroom were empty. The room service was non existent. We had to go get fresh towels at the front desk. The hotel had lots of people hanging outside all day and sleeping outside the building entrance at night. This is definitely not a 3 or 4 start hotel as stated on the site. This is more like 2 star.
